Funding Agency: Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness

Aim of the programme: provide financial suport of up to 175 grants lasting a period of five years for the recruitment of researchers that have obtained their PhD after 01/01/2003, with possible exceptions as described in the text of the call. The aid is intended to:

  • Co-finance the salary and the employer's contribution to Social Security of the researchers hired during each of the annuities. The salary perceived by the researcher should not be less than 31,600€ per year, for five years, before taxes.
  • Give an additional financial suport of € 40,000 to cover expenses related to the development of the research project.
  • Support the creation of jobs on a permanent basis, through a single provision of € 100,000 per grant given to the employing R & D Centre.

The Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT) is happy to host successful applicants to this programme. The ICMAT will provide researchers awarded with Ramon y Cajal grants with additional financial support and also with a PhD student for the development of their research project.
